Curriculum Intent
|
We aim to foster a curriculum that sparks curiosity and relates psychological concepts to real-world scenarios, encouraging students to see the practical applications of their learning. We prioritise the development of critical thinking skills, enabling students to analyse, evaluate and synthesise information, fostering a deeper understanding of psychological principles. We strive to reflect in our curriculum a diversity of perspectives within the field of psychology, promoting an inclusive-learning environment that acknowledges and values different voices and experiences, and acknowledging when theory and research lacks inclusivity of race, culture and gender. The curriculum integrates practical, hands-on experiences and case studies that allow students to apply theoretical knowledge, bridging the gap between theory and practice. It lends itself also to holistic well-being by incorporating elements that address mental health and well-being, fostering a supportive environment for students to understand and navigate their own psychological health. We place emphasis on research skills and methodologies, empowering students to design and conduct psychological inquiries, fostering a foundation for evidence-based thinking. This is underscored with collaborative learning and effective communication skills, recognising the importance of interpersonal skills in the field of psychology. The foundation of our intent is that, by delivering an enriching and impactful psychology curriculum, students will be better prepared for the world of work, having honed skills and self-awareness that allow them to be the best version of themselves.
