Festival of Culture Day

Celebrating Diversity and Community: Our Annual School Culture Day

Every spring/summer, our Academy's community comes together for one of the most vibrant, joyful, and unifying events of the year - Festival of Culture Day. It has become a cherished tradition, eagerly anticipated by students, staff, and families alike. More than a celebration, our Festival of Culture is a living expression of who we are - an Academy that values diversity, creativity, and belonging.

Music, Dance, and Stories That Bring Us Together

Our Festival of Culture transforms our Academy grounds into a colourful tapestry of global traditions. Students proudly represent the cultures, countries, and communities that shape their identities. The afternoon is full with traditional dress, music, song, dance, flags, culinary delights and smiling faces.

The event also gives students opportunities to explore new cultures alongside their own, the day encourages curiosity and open‑mindedness.

Students spend weeks preparing and rehearsing for an afternoon that passes so quickly.

Family and Community at the Heart

What truly makes our Festival of Culture special is the involvement of families. Their presence reminds students that their cultural backgrounds are not just recognised but honoured within our Academy's community. It is a moment where home and the Academy come together beautifully.

Volunteers, staff, and students work hand‑in‑hand to bring the event to life, another example of how our Festival of Culture strengthens the sense of community we are known for.

Celebrating Identity, Belonging, and Respect

Although our Festival of Culture is full of fun and festivity, its impact reaches far beyond a single afternoon. It nurtures important values that shape our Academy's ethos:

  • Character
  • Confidence
  • Creativity
  • Contributing
  • Community

By celebrating the diversity within our Academy, we help pupils grow into thoughtful, empathetic, and culturally aware young people.

A Tradition We Treasure

As our Festival of Culture comes around each spring/summer, we are reminded of how rich, diverse, and inspiring our Academy's community truly is. It stands as a joyful testament to the idea that when we share our stories, traditions, and identities, we grow stronger together.

Here’s to another year of learning, celebrating, and connecting. Festival of Culture Day remains one of the highlights of our Academy's calendar, and its spirit lives on long after the day itself ends.

Explore Our Community Recipe Book

The celebration doesn’t end with the Festival of Culture Day. Some of the wonderful dishes enjoyed during the event have been lovingly contributed to our Festival of Culture Recipe Book - a collection of recipes from across our Academy, reflecting the flavours and traditions that make our community unique.

You can explore the book here:

It’s a beautiful way to continue sharing culture, heritage, and togetherness throughout the year.
