  • check whether an error was made when submitting your centre assessment grade and rank order to the awarding body

Arrangements for Appeals

The arrangements for awarding qualifications in summer 2020 state:

Candidates can appeal their grades through their centre if they feel the process this summer was not followed correctly in their case.

A candidate can:

  • ask their centre to appeal on their behalf to an awarding body if there is evidence that leads a candidate to believe:
  1. the centre made an error when submitting a centre assessment grade or rank order information
  2. an awarding body made a mistake when calculating, assigning or communicating a grade
  3. your school or college can appeal if it believes the historical data used for standardisation was not a reliable basis for predicting its 2020 results.
  • appeal against the centre’s decision
  1. not to seek any information the awarding body holds that would be needed for an appeal; and/or
  2. not to appeal to the awarding body

A candidate cannot:

  • appeal against their centre assessment grades and position in the rank order
  • appeal in respect of the process or procedure used by The Hazeley Academy in calculating their centre assessment grades and position in the rank order

Before you decide whether or not to you are going to lodge an appeal, please read the following document from OFQAUL carefully: Student Guide to Appeals

Autumn Examinations 2020

Students are reminded that there will be a full series of GCE A, AS and GCSE in all subjects available in autumn 2020 for anyone who is disappointed with their grades.

We really are hoping that students will be happy with their outcomes in the summer and that these will enable them to progress to their chosen pathways, but will obviously support students should they make the decision to take any exams in the autumn.  Unfortunately, these exams carry an additional cost for schools, and therefore the cost of entries will be passed on to students, as we would usually do with exam re-takes.

The cost to sit an examination will be:

  • £55 per GCSE
  • £125 per A-Level

These fees will need to be paid before the deadlines listed below and will be made through ParentPay. Please email finance@thehazeleyacademy.com for more details.

The timetable will run as follows:

  • GCE AS/A-level examinations start on Monday 5 October and finish on Friday 23 October
  • GCSE examinations start on Monday 2 November and finish on Monday 23 November

A-Level Request Form (goes live on 13th August 2020)
