A Poet Laureate for Hazeley 2015 - Character, Confidence and Creativity One of the beauties of poetry is when you see the perfect connection between the poem and your own experiences; when it says in a few words what would normally take a thousand. Poetry can give clarity to emotions and light to the darkest day. With this in mind, Mrs Williamson (Assistant Principal for English) and Mrs Ardley (Chartered Librarian) will be running a competition to find the Poet Laureate for Hazeley. Templates to help students with their creation will be available in the Library after Easter both at lunchtimes and at the end of the school day. We will also provide a display of poetry books to help inspire our writers. Students lower down the Academy will probably remember the visit from the hilarious performance poet Paul Cookson during their Transition Day. His books will also form part of the display fo those who wish to compose their poem in the comedy genre. All entries will be considered and the final judging, which will be by our visiting authors Steve Skidmore and Steve Barlow, will take place on 24th April 2015. We look forward to receiving your entries in the Library before this date. Read more...
