statement - queen elizabeth ii

It is with great sadness that we offer our sincere condolences to the Royal Family following the announcement of the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

70 years of service to our country, a role model to us all, a pillar of stability and point of continuity. I cannot think of another person who has inspired so many and offended so few.

You will be aware we have entered a period of national mourning that will continue until the end of the state funeral. We started this today with a special assembly led by Miss Whiteman and Mrs Williamson and this will continue as we adapt activities to reflect this period of mourning.

You will notice that our logos in online communication will be in black and white, and our correspondence will be greatly reduced, focusing only on the operational aspects. We hope that this gives people the space to remember and reflect.

It seems fitting to end this correspondence with some of the words of Queen Elizabeth II resonate with our Hazeley 5D values.

“Over the years, those who have seemed to me to be the most happy, contented and fulfilled have always been the people who have lived the most outgoing and unselfish lives.”

“We may hold different points of view but it is in times of stress and difficulty that we most need to remember that we have much more in common than there is dividing us.”

“Everyone is our neighbour, no matter what race, creed or colour.”
