Provision for Key Workers and Vulnerable Children

Dear Parent/Carer,

Our staff are now focusing on delivering education to our students online. When I checked last night over 80% had completed their tasks – this is a great start.

We will remain open for the vulnerable children and the children of key workers from Monday onwards. The list of recognised key workers can be found at the end of this letter.

It is important to stress a few key points of guidance from the government:

  • If it is at all possible for children to be at home, then they should be.
  • Parents should not use anyone deemed to be in the stringent social distancing category such as grandparents, friends, or family members with underlying conditions for their childcare.
  • Parents should also do everything they can to ensure children are not mixing socially in a way which can continue to spread the virus. They should observe the same social distancing principles.

What will the provision look like at Hazeley?

  • The Academy will be open from 8.45-3.15pm.
  • Students will enter and exit via the main reception.
  • Parents /carers will not be permitted to enter the building.
  • Usual uniform expectations apply. Students should also bring in a warm coat and sports kit each day.
  • There will be the usual lunch provision.
  • All students will be expected to adhere to our behaviour policy.
  • We will try to help the students follow the government advice on social distancing by having small groups and spreading out seating.
  • Students will follow the same online curriculum as other students, but with additional staff support.

How do I sign my child up?

I would like to stress that we are following government advice for children to be at home, if at all possible, but that the Academy is absolutely committed to providing a safe place for those children and families that need the additional support.

Our staff are contacting directly today the children who we believe to be in the vulnerable groups.

If you believe your child meets the key worker criteria and you want and need to send them into school,  then please complete the form HERE before 12 noon on Saturday.

If you need any further help or advice, do not hesitate to contact the Academy on 01908 555620 before 3.15pm or via twhiteman@thehazeleyacademy.com after 3.15pm and we will do all that we can. We appreciate that things are very fast moving, and this can make them appear a little more complicated than usual.

Thank you for your support. By working together we will not only get through this, but grow from it.

Kind regards,

Mr Nelson
