A bumpy, but hugely successful year
I remember predicting back in September that we would have a bumpy, but successful year. COVID certainly ensured that it was bumpy, and I hope that you agree the way we have pulled together as a community has made it a very successful one.
So successful that we had to add the Cs of contributing and community to those of character, confidence and creativity. I hope that the updates below help you get the most from Hazeley and that the end of term celebratory new letter inspires you to work even more closely with us in the years ahead - Celebration Newsletter July 2021 (office.com)
Friday 16th July
Non uniform day (£1 donation via ParentPay) and early finish at 1.15pm.
Replenishment of Home Testing Kits
To keep you informed, we have today been notified of some more positive cases but the students are already isolating. Following track and trace protocol we have identified just one additional person as a close contact – the parents have been informed and the student is now self-isolating.
It is a strong reminder of the importance of the twice weekly lateral flow tests. Your child will be coming home on Friday 16th with their final pack of 7 testing kits for the summer.
Mass Testing Information for when students return in September
The Government have asked us to do two rounds of mass testing of the school upon return 3 to 5 days apart. We have scheduled this so it will not impact at all on our planned return days which are:
Monday 6th September – Year 7 and 12 only in the Academy. They will test period 1 when they arrive.
Tuesday 7th September – all students arrive. Year 8 9 10 11 and 13 will test period 1 when they arrive.
The second tests will be done either on Thursday or Friday that week with minimum disruption to learning.
Plans for Summer School
We have received a massive interest in our summer school provision this year. If your child is coming to the provision and you need to get in touch, please use firstname.lastname@example.org as this email will be monitored over the summer break.
The BBC were in school today chatting to some of our students and staff about the summer provision. Look out for us on the BBC early evening news tonight!
How We Can Support Learning Over the Summer
Summer holiday homework has been prepared for all students to help secure this term’s learning and to prepare for the next academic year. Whilst it’s essential that we all have some down-time over the Summer, we also want our students make a flying start in September. The Summer homework will be set on Microsoft Teams and tasks will be appropriate to your child’s age. Please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Williamson if you need any support - email@example.com
Free School Meals
We are pleased to advise that the Government has provided additional grants to fund Free School Meal vouchers via our local authority under the Covid Holiday Help Scheme. Milton Keynes Council has chosen to use the Edenred National Voucher Scheme for schools to distribute to parents. Many of you will be familiar with this system as it was the one used during all previous national lockdowns. If you need more information – please click here -
Stay safe and have a wonderful summer.
