IT

Intent

IT is an integral part of society and the world of work. Our intent is to ensure that our students are successful by making them competitive, adaptative and resilient in the IT industry. IT provides scope to meticulously plan projects and work collaboratively in a team. IT can also support the promotion and campaigning of practical and important real-life issues, such as health, finance, education, and other social issues. IT provides wider knowledge and can help in gaining and accessing information through multiple mediums such as the World Wide Web. Internet of Everything is at the centre of all technological advancements, and we intend of making our students aware of these developments.

It is imperative to be computer-literate in the current digital age irrespective of the profession. In IT we teach all applications on the Microsoft Office suite to develop those everyday skills to become employable in industry. Additionally, we will introduce our students to cloud-based applications (Microsoft Teams, OneNote, OneDrive etc..) and explain to them how these applications have revolutionised the way we work and collaborate.

We will teach students how to analyse problems through practical experience of solving such problems, including designing, writing, and debugging IT systems.

Students will learn about the components that make up digital systems, and how they communicate with other systems. Learners will develop valuable thinking skills that are extremely attractive in the modern workplace. Learners will understand the impacts of digital technology to the individual and to wider society.

Finally, we will provide learners with essential IT knowledge, skills and tools to improve their learning in subjects across the curriculum with the aim of enhancing their employability when they leave education.
