Textiles and SMSC

In textiles lessons we looked at 30 unique phone cases and discussed how they could be made. Students worked in pairs, designing eco-friendly phone cases and phone pockets. Students then did an extended writing task considering why designing products with the environment in mind was important.


Students worked in groups to discuss pollution in the design industry, electronic trash and landfill issues in China. Students considered the nature of consumerism and how easy it is to refuse a product if you don’t need it. Students looked at how phone cases could be made of wood, bamboo, be recycled and vegan.
