Responsibilities & Expectations

It is the responsibility of the lead SDP Louise Baldwin, under the direction of Tony Nelson and the Board of Directors, to ensure that all safeguarding issues raised in Academy are effectively responded to, recorded and referred to the appropriate agency. They are also responsible for arranging whole Academy safeguarding training for all staff and volunteers who work with young people in our Academy. The SDP has a role in ensuring that the whole Academy safeguarding training takes place at least every three years.

The SDP is required to attend or ensure that a senior member of staff who has the relevant training and access to appropriate supervision, attends where appropriate, all conferences, core groups or meetings where it concerns a student at our Academy and to contribute to multi-agency discussions to safeguard and promote the student’s welfare.

The  SDP will work with the MKSCB who monitor the provision for safeguarding across Milton Keynes and who have an auditing role in ensuring the Academy is meetings its Safeguarding requirements under section 175/157 of the Education Act 2002 for both maintained and independent schools, including academies.  The SDP is also required to provide an annual safeguarding Board of Directors report and, with the Principal, to ensure the Board of Directors remain fully informed with regards to safeguarding within the Academy.
