The following Health Care is available to our young people
at The Hazeley Academy:
The Academy has a medical room, ably supported by a team of trained First Aiders. however, could it please be noted that the Academy cannot provide medical aids.
Within the Academy, we offer basic first aid and support students and their families with the management of day-to-day, long-term and short-term medical conditions with Individual Health Care Plans. Where an injury or condition goes beyond minor first aid, the student is referred to their GP or hospital and parents are contacted. It is important, therefore, that the Academy is given up-to-date contact information at all times.
Please can you note that should your child suffer an illness or accident at home before coming to the Academy, you should not send them in. If your child complains that they felt ill before coming in to the Academy, we will assume that in your judgement your child is well enough to be here. However we will not, of course, ignore any student whose condition has clearly deteriorated.
Medication in the Academy
If a student suffers from a chronic long-term illness/complain such as asthma, serious allergy, diabetes or epilepsy or is recovering from a short-term illness, it is recognised that they may require antibiotics or other medicines to be administerered within the Academy.
In all instances when a prescribed medicine needs to be administered within the Academy, parents must complete an Administration of Medicine Form (available from the Medical Room and Reception). In line with the DfE guidelines, medicines must be in the original packaging with the dispensing label and instruction leaflet.
Paracetamol
The Academy do not stock Paracetamol and parents must supply Paracetamol if it is likely that their child may need analgesia at some point whilst in the Academy.
Leaflets and Information
Leaflets, booklets and other information are available from the Medical Room including information regarding head-lice, healthy eating, personal hygiene, puberty and many other topics, for all ages and abilities. Should a parent or student require information on a particular subject, Mrs Gray (Matron) will make every effort to provide this on request, if it is not already on display.
