The Hazeley Academy Transition Process 2018

What is happening?

When is it happening?

Visits to Primary Schools
May 2018

Hazeley Academy staff will visit students in their primary schools to talk about what it is like to belong to The Hazeley Academy and to answer any questions they may have prior to Transition Day.

Less than 5 Evening

21st June 2018

For students joining Hazeley where four or less students are joining from their primary school, our own Student Council are running an invitational social event from 4.15-5.30pm to help with making new friends.

At the same time there will also be an information event for parents/carers of these children.

Excellence Transition day

26th June 2018

Our excellence team will invite students, identified through their work with primary schools, to an additional transition experience from 9am to 2pm.  Students should attend in their current school uniform and are asked to bring a packed lunch and bottle of water with them.

Transition Day

2nd July 2018

Students arrive at Hazeley for 8.40 am wearing their current primary school uniform.  Students will be dismissed at 2.45pm.  Lunch will be provided for students in the Academy restaurant but they may bring a packed lunch if they prefer.  Students should bring a bottle of water to drink throughout the day.

Meet the Tutor

2nd July 2018 (4.15pm – 6.15pm)

Families will be invited to attend a short meeting with their child’s new tutor.  An appointment time will be provided closer to the time.  Also available to meet during the evening will be our KS3 Progress Leaders, Music teachers / Peripatetic lesson enrolment, Gifted & Talented Coordinator, our uniform supplier, colleagues from our Excellence department, Senior Lead First Aider and other senior members of staff.

Literacy and Numeracy Transition Mornings

6th, 9th and 10th July 2018

All new students will be invited to attend one of our Literacy and Numeracy transition mornings to support their learning as they move from primary to secondary school.  Information about dates and times will be sent closer to the time.

New Starter Day

Wednesday 5th  September 2018

The first day for our new Year 7’s.  It is a full school day and students should arrive at the Academy by 8.35 am and finishing at 3.15 pm.

Years 8,9,10 & 11 will return on 6th September 2018.
